After the Board of Supervisors postponed their decision on the proposed Bock Farm development until February 14th 2017, members of the Williamsburg Manor North Citizens Association’s board of directors, the covenant holders, the developer and Supervisor Storck held several meetings to discuss other development options for the farm.
The group was presented with three proposals;
1. The original development of 128 condos for “over 55” adults
2. A modified version of the first proposal, of 124 condos in 4 buildings with a façade of town houses, and no separate community center.
3. 40 3-story town houses with 2 car garages, with the maximum height of 35 ft.
Association met with the developer on January 5th to discuss all three proposals. The members present at the meeting voted 31 to 2 with 1 abstention, to support the townhouse development. The consensus of the members present was that development is coming to the farm and the town houses offered an alternative to the larger buildings, higher density, and increased traffic that would come with the condos.
Williamsburg Manor North Citizens Association’s position on the development, along with the vote, was sent to Supervisor Storck. He replied that he was still in favor of the “over 55” development, as he believes it fills a need in the community. He stated the he would hold a “community wide meeting” to gather opinions of a larger portion of the community. The flyer, which can be found at wmnca.com under 'neighborhood flyers' contains the details of the Community Meeting. Please note that there will be no vote or comments at this meeting, just questions only.
We urge you to attend this meeting and support the town house proposal, and complete the survey form available at the end of the meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting you may submit your support via email to Supervisor Storck at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/mountvernon
