Yard Sale: A community yard sale will be held on Saturday April 21st, from 8:00 am to 12:00pm. Rain date will be the 28th. The Association will provide advertising and signage; you set up, manage your own sale, and keep your proceeds. FYI for those who do not sell all of your stuff and don’t want to haul it back into the house, there are local charities that will come by and pick up the unsold goods. It is best to pre-arrange the pickup date and time.
Annual Meeting: The Association’s annual meeting will be held on Wednesday May 16th at the Government Center on Parker’s Lane, beginning promptly at 7:30. Agenda items include adoption of a budget, nominations and election of Association Officers, and a presentation on the renovation and expansion of INOVA Mt Vernon Hospital. The $43 million project includes renovation or addition of more than 65,000 square feet, which will include a patient tower, two operating rooms, upgrades to the infrastructure, and additional space for continued growth. Along with the expansion comes an increase in vehicular traffic on Parker’s Lane, Sherwood Hall Lane, Hinson Farm Road and Holland Road.
E-Communications. In an effort to provide more information in a more timely and efficient manner, we will begin posting our newsletter on our website www.wmnca.com. We will continue to forward emails we receive from the Police Department, the Mt Vernon Supervisor’s Office and the Mount Vernon Council of Citizens Association that we feel are of importance to the community, thru our list serve. You can sign up for the list serve by going to our web site www.wmnca.com, click on contact us, fill in the required info, in the comment box put “ add to list serve”. Your email address will not appear in any Association publications unless you request it, nor will it be given out to anyone.
Dues: Association membership dues for 2012 are due now. As of April 1st, we have received dues from 45 out of 137 possible members.
Your dues allow us to maintain the website, membership in Mt Vernon Council of Citizens Associations, www.mvcca.com and sponsor the Annual Halloween party. Although membership is voluntary we urge you to support your community. We are always looking for members to serve on the Board of Directors, and participate in committees sponsored by the Mount Vernon Council of Citizens Associations
If you have any questions or comments, willing to serve on a committee, hold office, you may contact the Association President, John Harris at 703-360-1559 or email@example.com.
